Jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd, acclaimed for the quartet work he launched on his "Forest Flower" debut album, pares it down with a new trio at 8 p.m. Friday at the Palace of Fine Arts.

Lloyd will take a percussive journey with tabla master Zakir Hussain and drummer Eric Harland as a tribute to his longtime musical and spiritual partner, the late Billy Higgins.
